Muslimcreed – A Muslim is required to have a solid commitment to Allah SWT. Imam Ar-Raghib Al-Asfahani specifies: “Taqwa is protecting the spirit from activities that make it wicked, and that’s by leaving what is prohibited, and ending up being perfect by leaving some of what is legal” (Al-Mufradat Fi Gharibil Qur’an, p. 531)

But one’s piety cannot be seen with the nude eye. There are unique qualities that just really pious individuals have. The following are some of the qualities of a pious individual that you need to know:

1. Understand the scientific research of religious beliefs

A pious individual is an individual that understands the scientific research of religious beliefs. Therefore, if you want to increase piety, increase spiritual knowledge.

2. Support petition

3. Keep away from immorality

Pious individuals will constantly keep away from various forms of disobedience. Although the devil’s lure is just through words ‘only for a moment or ‘can repent again’ however, pious individuals will keep away from disobedience.

In the past, Sa’ad container Ibrahim was asked that was one of the most fuqaha amongst individuals of Medina. So he replied, “That’s one of the most pious of them.” As estimated by Ibnul Qayim in Miftah Dar as-Sa’adah (see Ta’liqat Risalah Lathifah by Abul Harith at-Ta’muri, p. 44).

4. Maintain promises

Maintaining promises is the hallmark of pious individuals which is the opposite of hypocrites and disbelievers. Every time he is provided a requirement or obligation, he will perform inning accordance with his promise. God said,

بَلَىٰۚ مَنۡ أَوۡفَىٰ بِعَهۡدِهِۦ وَٱتَّقَىٰ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ  ٧٦

“(Not so), in truth, whoever maintains his promise (made) and is pious, after that certainly Allah likes those that are pious.” (Surat al-Imran: 76).

5. Diligent alms

Another characteristic of a pious individual is diligence in giving alms. The individual that prefers to invest his riches in the way of Allah is the one that truly knows that everything comes from Allah and should be returned to the way of Allah.

Those are the qualities of a pious individual that you need to know. But truly just Allah knows best that has the real piety. May we remain in the ranks of pious individuals that are loved by Allah SWT. Aameen
