Definition of Manhaj
Manhaj salaf is an expression of two words, “manhaj” and “salaf”. Both have their own meaning. Manhaj is defined as a clear path, while salaf means people who have gone before you.
Salaf can also be interpreted as an imam and companion of the Prophet Muhammad. So, manhaj salaf can be interpreted as a clear path according to religious rules based on the understanding of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad.
Mention for Followers of Manhaj Salaf
People who follow the manhaj of the salaf (salafiyyun) are commonly called Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah because they hold fast to the Qur’an and As-Sunnah (the teachings of the Prophet) and are united on them. Also called Ahlul Hadith wal Atsar because they hold fast to hadith and atsar when people put their minds first.
They are also called al-Firatun Najiya, namely the group that Allah saved from hell as will be mentioned in the hadith of Abdullah bin Amr bin al-‘Ash radhiallahu anhuma.
In addition, they are also called ath-Thaifah al-Manshurah, namely a group that is always helped and won by Allah as will be mentioned in the hadith of Tsuban radhiyallahu anhu,
Obligation to follow the Manhaj of the Salaf
Manhaj salaf and salafiyyun are not restricted to certain organizations, certain regions, certain leaders, certain parties and so on. In fact, the manhaj of the salaf teaches us that the bond of brotherhood is built on the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam with the understanding of salafus shalih.
Whoever clings to him, then he is our brother even though he is on the other side of the world. This is the sacred bond that is connected by the ties of the salaf manhaj, the manhaj taken by the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam and his companions.
The Manhaj of the Salaf is a manhaj that must be followed and adhered to by every Muslim in understanding his religion. Why so? Because, this is explained by Allah in the Qur’an and by the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam in his Sunnah.

The virtues of the Manhaj Salaf
As the only manhaj that must be followed to understand Islam, there are several virtues of the salaf manhaj, namely:
Is a rule that shows the straight path according to the pleasure of Allah SWT.
Manhaj salaf must be held tightly when there is an understanding or opinion in understanding Islamic law.
Following other teachings other than the salaf manhaj means more freedom to be trapped in misguidance that is not according to the advice of Allah SWT.

Whoever Muslims who follow the Manhaj Salaf, of course, will get a reply from Allah SWT. Here are the benefits of following the salaf manhaj:

- – People who are always in the truth and will always get help from Allah SWT.
- – People who practice the manhaj salaf will be pleased by Allah and reach heaven (Al Jannah).
