The Importance of Muslim Global Relief Organizations

Posted on

MUSLIMCREED Every year, Muslim relief organizations do an immense amount of work to aid those in need all over the world, helping them to recover from disasters, to support families that have lost their homes or jobs, and to live healthier lives. You might be wondering why these organizations are so important and what makes them stand out from other charities you might have heard about before. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why these Muslim organizations are so vital and how they help others around the world every day of the year.

What Are Muslim Charities Doing?

There are several global charities that operate under Islamic principles, or in majority-Muslim countries. Some provide education and health care while others focus on alleviating hunger. Either way, these organizations not only meet basic needs but also often function as a type of civil society infrastructure in countries where government services do not reach everyone equally.

For example, in Kenya, Muslim schools make up 30 percent of primary schools and more than half of secondary schools; however, there is just one health center for every 100,000 people.

The lack of access to healthcare has led to an increase in child mortality rates, especially among children younger than five years old. The World Health Organization estimates that out of 1,000 children born in Africa each year approximately 170 will die before their fifth birthday – compared with 130 out of 1,000 in Latin America and 110 out of 1,000 in Asia.

Why Should I Care?

If you live in a Western country, your mind is undoubtedly filled with thoughts of helping those who are less fortunate than you. And yet when it comes to aiding people in third world countries, it’s hard to know where and how to do so effectively.

For many years, NGOs have tackled poverty and other issues in these communities, but today there is a new trend emerging: more Muslim organizations working toward that same goal. But why is that? What impact do these organizations have on global relief efforts? How can I help? These are all questions worth asking as we move forward into an uncertain future.

How Will My Donation Be Used?

If you’ve decided to donate money for relief efforts, but aren’t sure which organization or charity to choose, you’re not alone. Because there are so many different organizations and charities claiming to help with disaster-relief efforts and poverty in general, it can be overwhelming to decide where to send your donation. However, certain organizations have been shown time and again as reputable places for donations.

One such group is Muslim Global Relief (MGR). MGR has been around since 2001 and has a stellar track record when it comes to helping those in need—and they do it all without proselytizing. They also don’t discriminate based on race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation; they just want to help people in need.

What Can Muslims Do?

In a world where Islamophobia and racism are on the rise, it’s important for Muslims to give back in their own communities. A strong network of humanitarian relief organizations provides education, clean water, and other vital resources to impoverished communities all over the globe.

But that’s only one side of it—as members of a global community, Muslims have an obligation to help people outside their own societies as well. Here are some ways we can support Muslim-led relief organizations and aid those suffering around us.

1) Become aware: Before you do anything else, become aware of organizations near you who work with international refugee populations. Many such groups exist across America; contact them directly and ask how you can get involved with your local community.
