5 Tips to Save Lives According to Islamic Teachings

From childhood, we are always introduced to the phrase “saving the base of wealth” and often become motivated and applied in everyday life. Economic growth is progressing day by day, making the cost of living even more expensive. Sometimes expenses are not matched by income.

As Muslims, Islam teaches us to always be frugal and prohibits wasteful behavior in managing anything, including our property.

Allah SWT says:

وَآتِ ذَا الْقُرْبَى حَقَّهُ وَالْمِسْكِينَ وَابْنَ السَّبِيلِ وَلا تُبَذِّرْ تَبْذِيرًا

“And give to close relatives their due, to the poor and the traveler; and do not squander (your wealth) extravagantly.” (Surat al-Isra ‘: 26)

Here, oase.id summarizes some steps to live frugally according to Islam that can be applied in everyday life:

Although the law of debt is not prohibited, debt habits will make daily needs difficult to control (frugal). Islam also regulates debt because it involves the economic sector. If you have debt, pay it off immediately. Because debt is a burdensome thing to live in this world and the hereafter.

Ibnul Qoyyim in Al Fawa’id (p. 57, Darul Aqidah) says, “The Prophet Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam asked Allah for protection from committing sins and debts because many sins will bring loss in the hereafter, while a lot of debt will bring loss in the hereafter. world.”

“Say, “Indeed, my Lord expands sustenance and limits it to whom He wills among His servants.” And whatever you spend, Allah will replace it and He is the best provider of sustenance.” (Surat Saba’: 39)

Tips #5. Saving

The rest of the month’s expenses that have been spent, should be set aside for savings. In this way, we will have a savings fund for urgent or future needs. In a hadith narrated by H.R Bukhari, “Save some of your wealth for the good of your future, because it is much better for you.”
