Each of us must have experienced times when the problems we face never find a way out. When the problem arises, our hearts are hit by anxiety, anxiety, stress to depression. Stress and depression can trigger various kinds of diseases, ranging from physical ailments to mental illnesses.
Sometimes the problems we face never end, not because there is no solution, but because we are not calm enough to think clearly. As the word of Allah SWT in Surah Al-Insyirah (94:6): “Indeed, with difficulty there is ease.” Then, how to find peace so that we feel at ease?
Finding peace in Islam
Islam is a religion of peace, a religion that gives peace, a religion that gives peace. By embracing Islam, learning its knowledge and then practicing it, we will surely find peace in life. Here are some keys to seeking the tranquility that is recommended in Islam:
1. Remembering Allah
Always remembering Allah is the most basic way for Muslims to make our hearts feel at ease. As Allah says in QS Ar-Ra’d verse 28, which means:
“(namely) those who believe and their hearts find peace in the remembrance of Allah. Remember, only in the remembrance of Allah does the heart find peace.”
In the language of the Qur’an, remembering Allah can also be interpreted as dhikr. This means that with dhikr, remembering the greatness and favors that have been given by Him, we will get peace in our hearts.
2. Be grateful for what Allah has given
Gratitude for the blessings that God has given is an easy way for us to find peace in our hearts and minds. Allah commands every Muslim to be grateful to Him, as Allah says:
“So remember Me, I will remember you too, and be grateful to Me, and do not deny My favors.” (Surat al-Baqarah: 152)
Also in Surah An-Nisa verse 147, which means:
“Why will Allah punish you, if you are grateful and believe? And Allah is Most Gracious, All Knowing.” (Surat an-Nisa: 147)
3. Obey Allah’s commands
Al Imam al ‘Allamah Ibn al-Qayyimrahimahullah said: “…Indeed, the heart will not (feel) calm, serenity, and peace, except if the owner relates to Allah SubhanahuwaTa’ala (by doing obedience to Him) so that, whoever is the main goal (in his life), his love, fear, and dependence only on Allah SubhanahuwaTa’ala, then he has obtained pleasure from Him, delicacy from Him, glory from Him, and happiness from Him forever.”
From his explanation, we understand that if a person leaves his obedience to Allah SWT, or even commits a sin, then his heart will be narrow, barren, always restless, and restless. A narrow heart is a heart that is difficult to feel calm and peaceful, because it is always hit by anxiety over the commands of Allah SWT that he left behind. Therefore, so that our hearts always feel calm and peaceful, we are obliged to always obey Allah’s commands and stay away from intentions to turn away from His commands.
4. Prayers
The obligation for every Muslim is to pray to Him at 5 times. If the prayers we do are true and solemn, surely we will feel satisfaction in our hearts, peace of mind and peace of life.
In one great communication that we do with the Lord, all kinds of anxiety, restlessness, and narrowness in the heart and soul seem to be swept away. We should make prayer a comforter and decoration of our hearts as the Prophet SAW felt.
The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihiwasallam said:
“And has been made the entertainer (decorator) of my heart (my happiness) in prayer.” (HR. An-Nasai [7/61] no. 3939, 3940, Ahmad [3/128] no. 14069. Validated by Shaykh al-Albani in as-Silsilah ash-Shahihah [3/98 and 4/424])
5. Gather with pious people
A pious person is a person who is close to Allah, when we associate with the pious will make us carried away to always be closer to Allah. Gathering with pious people is one of the practices that can calm our hearts and minds. All turmoil in the heart and mind will be treated with useful advice that leads us to always hand over all the results of our affairs to Allah SWT.
6. Read the Quran
The Qur’an contains various instructions for our lives. If we are able to understand the instructions contained in it we will feel pleasure and peace. As Allah says that the Qur’an is truly a clear guide. A guide for human beings, which can make our lives calmer, because we always walk in the right path.
7. Believe in God’s help
No matter how difficult and no matter the weight of the problem we face, rest assured that God will not give a trial that His servants will not be able to face. Allah SWT will definitely give us help when we go through it with sincerity and patience, and always trust in Him.
Because, uneasiness occurs when a person always thinks about the severity of the trials he faces, and forgets that God is always with him. We are also strongly encouraged to ask God for help, because God always hears the prayers of His servants.
As Allah says in Surah Ali-‘Imran verse 126:
“And God did not make the provision of reinforcements but as good news for you and so that your hearts are at peace because of it. And victory is only from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise. “
Such are some of the key practices that can provide peace in Islam. It all depends on whether we are able to implement the above practices or rather remain focused on the problems we face. The point is, if we have difficulty in dealing with a problem, remember God. Because only by remembering God will we find peace, and only in Him do we ask for help.
