History of Nuzulul Quran
Nuzulul Quran is the event of the revelation of the Koran to the Prophet Muhammad. This incident is explained in Surah Al-Baqarah Verse 185:
“The month of Ramadan, the month in which the Qur’an was sent down (beginning) as a guide for mankind and explanations for that guidance and a distinction (between right and wrong)”.
When the revelation in the form of the Koran was revealed, the Prophet Muhammad was in the Hira Cave. At that time, the Angel Gabriel suddenly came to deliver a revelation to the Prophet. The first revelation that Gabriel conveyed to Muhammad was the Qur’an Surah Al Alaq verses 1 – 5.
Remembering the Prophet Muhammad SAW is not from the same type of creature. The scholars gave two possibilities: Jibril transformed into a human, or vice versa.
Regarding the exact time of the incident, there is a difference of opinion among the scholars. Some scholars believe that the incident occurred in the month of Rabiul Awal on the 8th or 18th (the 18th based on the history of Ibn Umar).
While some others are in the month of Rajab on the 17th or 27th according to the history of Abu Hurairah, and others are in the month of Ramadan on the 17th (Al-Bara’ bin Azib), 21 (Shaykh Al-Mubarakfuriy), and 24 (Aisyah, Jabir and Watsilah bin Asqo’).
There are different views regarding the process of the revelation of the Qur’an. The first theory, in which some scholars explain that the Qur’an came down in whole and complete numbers and forms to the heavens of the world (sama’ al-Dunya). After that, from the heavens of the world then the Qur’an was revealed to the earth gradually as needed. Some say 20, 23, or 25 years.
In the second theory, some scholars say that the Qur’an was revealed to the sky of the world for 20 nights of Lailatul Qadar or 20 years. In this case, it can be understood that the Qur’an was revealed once a year, which coincided with the night of Lailatul Qadar.
The third theory states that the Qur’an was first revealed on the night of Lailatul Qadar. Then the Qur’an was revealed to the earth gradually in different times
