During Ramadan, there are many very important sunnahs that can be done, from sahur to leaving lust and lust. Here are a number of sunnah fasting in Ramadan based on the book Bekal Ramadhan by Ahmad Zarkasih, Lc.
This is seven Sunnahs of Fasting Ramadan, from Sahur to Leaving Lust and Enthusiasm
1. Sahur
Sahur is a sunnah for fasting. As said by Rasulullah SAW that eat sahurlah, because sahur is a blessing. Eating sahur is still sunnah even if only with a glass of water.
2. Ending the Suhoor
It is sunnah to end the meal before dawn. Eating sahur is not good if it is done too late, even though it is not prohibited. The practice of eating sahur carried out by the Prophet Muhammad was just before dawn. The benefits of ending sahur include:
1) Shorten the Time to Hold Hungry
During fasting, Muslims must restrain their appetites such as eating, drinking and emotions. From dawn to dusk. Therefore, the benefit of ending the meal time is that it can shorten the time lag for holding back hunger.
The situation is different, such as when we have sahur after performing tarawih prayers because we are lazy to wake up, or even at midnight at one or two o’clock. Of course, if sahur is too early, it can make us hungry faster than eating close to dawn.
The time for the human body to digest food is 4 to 6 hours, so if we eat sahur closer to dawn, the time to hold back food is getting shorter because it is getting closer to sunset time.
2) Stay Focused and Don’t Distract Activities
If we eat breakfast too early, it can make us hungry quickly. If the stomach feels hungry then during fasting activities can be disrupted because they are not focused on doing work. Whether activities at work, home, or at school, of course, drain a lot of energy and energy.
Even though during fasting it is recommended to continue to carry out activities as usual. This can enrich the reward in the month of Ramadan. Lazing all day actually makes the fasting time feel longer than when you are on the move. Therefore, do not let you miss the benefits of ending sahur.
3) Avoiding Health Problems
One of the most important benefits of ending suhoor is that it keeps you awake after suhoor. After sahur is actually not recommended to go back to sleep. This is because there are many losses that can be obtained as a result of getting used to falling asleep after having sahur. One of them is indigestion.
If you fall asleep, make the food that has been consumed during sahur difficult to digest. Finally, the nutrients that enter the body are not absorbed optimally. Over time, this condition can lead to health problems. Nutrients that are not absorbed properly can also make us feel weak during fasting
3. Hasten Iftar
It is sunnah to hasten to break the fast before the Maghrib prayer. Even if it’s just a sip of water or a date. From Sahl bin Saad that the Prophet SAW said, “My people are still in goodness as long as they prioritize breaking their fast.” (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim).
4. Feeding People Iftar
Feeding people who break their fast is highly recommended, even if it’s just a sip of water or a date. “Whoever feeds (when breaking the fast) for a fasting person, then he will get a reward like the reward of the person who was given food without deducting anything from his reward.” (HRAt-Tirmizy, An-Nasai, Ibn Majah, Ibn Hibbandan Ibn Khuzaemah).
5. Reading the Quran
It is sunnah for people who are fasting, especially the fast of Ramadan, to read the Quran more. Jibrilalaihissalam came to the Prophet Muhammad every night of the month of Ramadan and taught him the Koran. (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim).
6. Increase Alms
Increasing sadaqah is very sunnah when we are fasting. “Rasulullah SAW was a very generous person with donations. But when he was most generous was in the month of Ramadan when he met Jibril. (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)
7. Leaving Lust and Lust
There are certain passions and desires that do not break the fast, such as enjoying fragrances, seeing something pleasant and lawful, listening and touching. Although basically it does not break the fast while in the syar’i corridor, it is sunnah to leave it.
