muslim creed – Adolescence is a phase where humans are looking for an identity. The majority interprets adolescence as a transitional phase from the age of children to adulthood. Indecision, uncertainty, and temptations will come to the youth.

In this phase, adolescents will face life’s problems and are required to immediately adapt to the realities of life.

However, this phase of self-discovery is vulnerable in choosing playmates. Teenagers are currently in the era of globalization with various kinds of gadgets as supporting means of information, which further expands the adolescent’s social network.

Therefore, it is essential to understand youth from an Islamic perspective and psychology.

The spread of wrong associations and adolescent discussion from an Islamic perspective

Brawls, free sex, drugs, and other things are closely related to teenagers with the wrong association. The mistake of choosing this association is a scourge for most parents because the family can be threatened with tarnishing its good name in society.

In addition, the teenager’s future will be threatened if he falls further if he is used to doing evil deeds. Moreover, young people have always been a hope for their parents to be able to raise the status of their family, even if it is possible to serve and make the nation proud.

In Islam, teenagers are often called puberty. In this period, a person was obliged to perform obligatory worship and avoid His prohibitions.

In the process, physical, cognitive, and psychosocial intelligence develops compared to childhood. In performing compulsory worship, teenagers are judged to be in time to carry out worship, such as fasting and prayer.

Even teenagers are considered independent to pay zakat even though they are still financially supported by their parents.

Adolescents from the psychological aspect

In terms of thinking or cognition, adolescents should understand various accepted sciences, both social, general, and religious sciences. For example, in the science of religion, adolescents can distinguish what is good and right and avoid various prohibitions in Islam.

While on the psychosocial aspect, adolescents are already at the stage of being able to digest information and abstract concepts.

Teenagers are considered to have been able to interpret various information because previously, what they understood was one-way information. In this case, teenagers can apply multiple teachings in the Qur’an verses and the hadith of the Prophet’s history.

However, even though teenagers can digest new things, they still need guidance. Like beginners, teenagers need people to guide them to find a good direction in life and be useful for themselves and the wider community. Because basically, humans do not live for themselves.
